Why I always have a cake in the freezer!

On Wednesday, one of my friends was called in to work unexpectedly, so I had two extra lunch guests!
As you can see, lunch is macaroni cheese, baked beans, oven chips and apple juice. The girls took off their princess dresses to eat, which is why they haven't got any tops on!

They brought with them some fresh strawberries they'd picked;

Luckily, I always have a cake of some description in the freezer. This one is a Chocolate and Banana cake.

You start by spreading some vanilla ice-cream on the bottom layer of the cake;

Then put the strawberries on top;
Put the top back on, and finish with a drizzle of chocolate sauce.
Voila! One easy, child-created, tasty Pudding!

Another Bank holiday weekend! Hooray!

Well, we spent one day of the Bank Holiday weekend making friends at our church conference
And some time in the park!

And then, on Monday, we went to an Arts and Craft Fair;
where we got to see lots of large metal sculptures,
And Phoebe learnt how to make a sculpture herself!

From this angle, you can see that it's going to be a penguin........one day!
After a while she decided that she'd had enough chipping and carving, so she did some filing to finish her bit off!

My idea of heaven!

Two little sleeping people on the sofa in the cafe.....
And a chance for the Mummies to talk!

School trip!

This term's pre-school excursion was a trip to the theatre to see 'The Tiger who came to Tea'.
It was very well publicized locally!
This is the theatre,
Happily, there were lots of other schools at the performance. So Phoebe got to catch up with her best friend Ayrton!

(N)Ice way to spend an afternoon!

Today we went ice-skating with Rachel, Niamh, and Ezra (except Ezra didn't skate, although he clearly wanted to, but Rachel felt he should get the hang of walking first!).

Of course, it's quite tricky walking in skates on the carpet, before you even get to the ice!
I had no idea they made skates so small!
Here we go!
Captain Black taking Niamh for a spin!

And Daddy and Phoebe!

And while Rachel kindly watched all the children, Captain Black and the Baroness got to skate a circuit together for old time's sake. The last time we went skating was the day before we got married in 2002!

Quiet Saturday at the library

This is the 'story area' at our library.
It's in the children's section and you don't have to be so quiet in this bit!

Which gives us a chance to make friends,
Or play on our own!

And at the shops afterwards!

Ha! Ha!

Bank holiday weekend! Hooray!

Well, on Saturday we went down to Brighton to see Nanny and Grandad.
Who took us out for a LOVELY meal at Terre a Terre, which may be the best vegetarian restaurant on the planet!
After that we went for a paddle in the sea, a quick walk on the beach, and just lazing and chatting in the sun.

After that, we went for a wander on the Pier,

Phoebe enjoyed the rides;

Here she is with Grandad;
You have to roll wooden balls into the holes at the end to make the dolphins race each other!
It's more complicated than it looks!

After that, there was just time for ice-cream before getting on the bus home!
