Lang May Your Lum Reek! A bit of Scottish trivia for 2009!

****Update - I should have explained; the dark haired thing, I think, is to do with the proximity of Scotland to Scandinavia and bands of marauding Vikings. This may be why Scots would not be best pleased at someone  blonde trying to shoulder into their houses in the wee, small hours!*****

Here it is: I should probably warn you I'm not looking my best, and I'm sounding even posher than usual; but the sentiment is genuine, and I'm not going to get another chance, so it'll have to do!

"Baroness," what a lovely post you made! Of course we enjoy the accent and the little cultural enlightenment. I have to say that yours is the most intrinsically interesting so far! I'm so glad you decided to join us. Have fun blog hopping, and I can't wait to share "Lang May Your Lum Reek" with my friends tomorrow evening as we celebrate!

I just learned something in another langauge that didn't come from Dora the Explorer!
Cool.
I love hearing about other "things"
We americans get spoiled (in more ways then one...but I love going out of country to learn from places other then where I live. Sometimes it doesn't even have to be out of the country. I can talk to Texans, or the girls in NOLA. No that's different for me too. Thanks for sharing. What happens if a blonde gets through the door first?

Beautiful video.

I had actually heard about this tradition before but I did not know that it had a name.

Love it!

Blessings

I love this vlog so much. My Grandfather, Father, and I have been researching our ancestry for years and years now. My Dad's family is from Scotland, Ireland, and England. I have been so interested in learning more about my heritage and ancestry. This video was perfect. I truly learned something, and I just love it.

Love the cultural tidbits in your "posh" accent :-) Although my British friends insist it's us yanks who have the funny accent.
Very cute vlog!

Okay, you get my vote for the coolest ISWYS. That was some very cool New Year's trivia. Love it!

Makes me want to hunt down a dark headed Scotsman (or woman) to invite over on New Year's to eat black-eyed peas with us. (American tradition.)

I couldn't hear your video very well but I picked up on the accent and I think you are lovely. I see the blue tinsel on your tree... I like my blue Christmas too. :-)

Oh my word. I love your accent. Thanks for telling us about the tradition. My wife is Irish and she is dying to come over to visit the land of her ancestors.
